Money. Squirrel. Dosh

Whether you have wads of it gathering dust in a bank or just a penny purse full – there’s no doubt about it, money is a collective necessity.

The last few months have seen the world economy shaken by the effects of the Recession, effects that will no doubt be felt for many years to come.

Whether you are a student, home owner, family man or career woman; thoughts of requiring money and keeping it, the choices you make and the way you live have no doubt been altered by the current financial crisis…right?

What do you think about the Recession?

Are you filling your piggy bank with all the money you can or planning the biggest and best ways to blow the cash in your pocket while it’s still possible?

Do you leave for work thinking ‘What Recession?’

Do you leave the house thinking, ‘What work?’

Hustle? Spend? Who’s to blame?

What is your opinion when it comes to money?

Whatever it is you’re thinking or feeling we’d like to know.

Our group aim is to work with the public to gather information about how we all feel about the recession. We want to encourage you to express your views about the recession and the effects it has had on your life through creative outlets such as; interactive poetry, visualisation of thoughts, prose and pictorial representation. One goal of ‘My Last Fiver…’ is to collect a mass variety of public responses and publish them in a book that we can release back into the public that helped to create it.

We are planning a range of events to gather this information with a new project taking place every week as well as outside events on campus and off. This is so that we can constantly update and expand our research and ideas. Though not a debate in the conventional sense, project ‘My Last Fiver…’ has been set up to stimulate creative responses to the life of the individual throughout these difficult times. It’s a chance to be involved in a worldwide convergence of the thoughts, fears, art and opinions of people in similar situations. This is your chance to get your voice heard and be part of something new and worthwhile. We look forward to hearing your responses!
